This is a great article and appreciate the details. However, what happens when the church and elders fail to do their most basic function (discipleship) and embraces a cultural social club. Does a communion member have any requirements to remain in the church?

One of the blessings of Presbyterianism in this regard is the ability to file a complaint with the Session on this matter, and, if they turn that down, to carry the complaint to the Presbytery to seek their help. Instead of just leaving, I'd encourage proactivity in engaging with the leadership toward change that will bless everyone in the church, by God's grace.

I do not wish to include complaints against specific churches in the comments section of this blog. If you have concerns with your church, I would recommend filing a complaint with the Session, and, if you are still unsatisfied with their response to the complaint, you may take that complaint to the Presbytery.
